To wake up in Africa in a tent early in the morning is something you have to experience. The colours (its the rainy season) and the sound of lions is something to witness.
We are up early and Frank and Colin go for an early drive at 6am to catch the Lions. Unfortunately the Borgi gets stuck. (See the video on You Tube!) Anyway we have to dig the truck out the mud. But its worth while we see impalla, elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo but not lions.

We leave our campsite by about 10 and head to village about an hours drive from the park where we have brunch.
The roads are good and the scenery is fantastic. There is no rain today and the roof is down.
The road to Iringa slowly climbs to about 2000m. There is the usual road carnage on the way. This one was a petrol tanker that had over turned near some road works. It had just got to close to the edge of the road. The sight of the Borgi bring cheers and shouts from the work men!

After the long climb we finally find the camp site. Its eagle eyed Frank that spots the sign. Its an off road track that desends for some way to get down to the river but its well worth it.
We meet a couple who are travelling from the Cape to Cairo - They came via Mozambique. Unfortunately the guy caught malaria and the had to suspend the trip for three weeks while he got better. They advise that the there has been a lot of flooding in Mozambique but the road although rough are passable.

There is some debate as Colin has brought three bottles of Johnny Walker Black Label - Nobody is sure if they will drink it :)
On the bright side, it might last to the end of the trip.
Let the whisky training commence.
SMS : We stayed in Riverside Camp, 12km North of Iringa! In Malawi since 5pm, camping at Karongo at Lake MW, all well and operational.
